PETITION REQUEST: SUPPORT THE CARLSBAD SPACE POLICY — Strategic Preservation And Conservation Effort
Please sign this petition asking the City of Carlsbad to adopt a proactive SPACE Policy — Strategic Preservation And Conservation Effort — to identify, evaluate, and, when appropriate, acquire land for future open space, parks, trails, habitat preservation, drainage protection, and wildfire-safety buffers. As Carlsbad continues to grow, opportunities to preserve remaining open space are becoming more limited. A clear City policy would help ensure that potential open space and parkland opportunities are reviewed before they are permanently lost. This petition does not oppose responsible development or private property rights. It simply asks the City to be proactive, transparent, and forward-looking in protecting land that may provide long-term public benefit.

We advocate for proactive wildfire prevention, defensible space requirements, and emergency preparedness planning to keep Carlsbad families and neighborhoods safe from growing fire risks.

A Community Study Group is a group of volunteers from our community who come together to look at what's really going on and what we can do to make our community a better place to live.
